Skyler Holzman Recognized as AMCC All-Conference Defender

HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College's Skyler Holzman earned a spot on the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference 2024 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Team this morning when the awards were announced.

Wells College's Logan Lomonaco was named the Offensive Player of the Year while Courtney Vought from Mount Aloysius garnered the Defensive Player of the Year honor.  Hannah Lamont (Wells) was selected as the Newcomer of the Year and Coaches Vic Goller (Wells) and Lisa Evans (La Roche) were voted as the co-Coaches of the Year.

Skyler Holzman found a new home after transferring from Medaille University at the start of the 2023 academic year.  She brought veteran leadership to a young and building program. Holzman opened the season as a midfielder to help support the team's offensive push but shifted back to anchor the team's defense mid-way through the season.  The 5-4 Lancaster High School graduate started all 11 games for the Hawks and led the team with 28 draw controls, 20 caused turnovers, 29 ground balls and attempted four free position shots as well as 12 shots.

Holzman finished her first year at Hilbert setting a new single season record with 1.67 caused turnovers per game which also positions her as the program's all-time leader.

Holzman ranked 9th in the AMCC in caused turnovers and 12th in ground balls.

The Hilbert Women's Lacrosse program returned to action for the first time in three seasons after the program went on pause because of the pandemic.  The Hawks (0-11) also made the program's first appearance in the AMCC postseason tournament, falling in the semifinal game to the eventual AMCC Champions, Wells College.
