ERIE, Pa. – The Hilbert College Women's Track and Field team concluded their first Championship Meet today as Coach
Robert Krug guided Hilbert to a 7th place finish in the United East Conference two-day meet hosted by Penn State Behrend.
The Hawks recorded 39 points and finished ahead of Carlow University, Cedar Crest and St. Elizabeth in the 10-team field.
Penn State Behrend took first place with 180 points while St. Mary's was second (159.50) just ahead of Alfred State.
The Hawks combined their team points in the 5000 m run, 1500 m run, high jump, 100 m hurdles, 4x400 relay, javelin throw and 400 m dash.
Seven new program records were established in the long jump, 200 m dash, javelin throw, 1500 m run, 400 m dash, 400 m hurdles, and 4x400 relay.
Maddie Fusco finished her athletic career in style, winning the 5000 m run in 19:19.09 to earn the Track and Field program's first individual medal. Earlier in the day, Fusco earned 8 points in the 1500 m run with a second place 5:01.68 time.
Tahlia Kosek earned three top 8 finishes, collecting 6 points in the high jump (1.42m), five points in the 100 hurdles (18.50) and three points with a 27.51 toss in the javelin.
Madison Matuszak finished 7th in the 400 m dash as the other individual scorer.
The 4x400 relay team of
Alexandra Liszkiewicz,
Tahlia Kosek,
Paige Gajewski and
Madison Matuszak earned five points with their fourth-place finish in 4:35.27.
After finishing in the top three in their events, Kosek and Fusco (2x) were recognized as United East All-Conference athletes.
Penn State Behrend's Greg Cooper was named the Women's Track and Field Coach of the Year, Women's Rookie of the Year was Jilliam Sukely (St. Mary's), Women's Field Athlete of the Year was Jilliam Sukely (St. Mary's) and Hannah Wetzel (Gallaudet), Women's Track Athlete of the Year was Lindsay Hartle (Behrend) and Chay'La Rivers (St. Mary's) and Women's Elite 20 Award went to St. Mary's Dina Jones.
