HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Hilbert Women's Basketball set the pace in the opening quarter of action, but the Houghton Highlanders were more consistent throughout the forty-minute non-conference contest earning a 71-39 win at home.
Houghton improved to 4-0 while the Hawks continue to work towards their first win of the month.
HIGHLIGHTS
Kelsey Schlagenhauf poured in 17 points in 40-minutes of action. She led the Hawks with seven rebounds and three steals.
Mackenzie Catan and
LaDasia Leaks added six points each as
Kylie Morgan chipped in five rebounds and three points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hawks started the game fast, with Schlagenhauf leading the charge with seven first-quarter points. Her made 3-pointer gave Hilbert an 8-5 lead which they were able to maintain for the next 90 seconds.
- Chloe Champagne went 2-for-2 at the charity stripe, swinging the score back in Hilbert's favor with 3:26 left (10-9) but Houghton began to stack points together through to the end of the first quarter and into the second as well.
- Hilbert put forth a great effort in the third quarter, almost matching the hosts offensive performance that session (19-14), but Houghton added 19 more points to the scoreboard while limiting Hilbert to seven before the final horn.
GAME NOTES
- Hilbert matched Houghton's efforts on points off turnovers (10-11) but the depth of the Highlanders came into play as the game progressed.
- The Hawks were unable to maintain the same speed and intensity as the Highlanders who went to their bench often throughout the game.

Hilbert (0-5) continues for one more game on the road this week when they travel to Keuka College Friday, November 22nd for a 7 pm game against the Empire 8 opponent.
