UTICA, NY – Hilbert College Women's Hockey traveled to Utica, NY this evening to take on the eighth ranked Utica University Pioneers. Goals early and often saw the hosts take this one 15-0.

Utica set the tone early in the first two periods, scoring goals inside the first twelve seconds of each frame. The Pioneers followed up these quick strikes with consistent offense in the first and second periods to take an 11-0 lead into the final frame.

Hilbert goalie Tia Card was kept busy in her 25:04 in between the pipes, making 23 stops including a 17-save effort in the game's opening 20 minutes.

Brook Thompson was immediately tested when she entered the game in relief of Card as the sophomore goalie stopped the first seven shots she faced.

After the Pioneers opened the scoring 3:11 into the third period, they added three more goals before the game ended to complete the 15-0 victory.
 
GAME NOTES

• Card and Thompson split the game in net, combining for 51 saves.
• Izabelle Wagner (2) and Anna Faulkner (1) accounted for the three Hilbert shots in the game.
• The Hawks killed off the lone Utica powerplay in the game, allowing just one shot while playing four on five.

The two teams face-off again tomorrow afternoon for the second game of the weekend doubleheader. Puck drop is set for 2 PM at Nexus Center.
