Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey | | Andrew Loveless

Women's Hockey Taken Down by MCLA

AMHERST, NY – Hilbert College Women's Hockey took on Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts this afternoon for the second game in as many days between the Hawks and Trailblazers. MCLA used multiple goals in each period, including a three-goal effort in the first, for a 7-0 victory and a weekend sweep.

Hilbert got shots on goal early and often, but all 38 attempts of the Hawks were denied as the team was blanked for the first time this season.

Kelsey Fuller led the attack for the Hawks with a 14-shot performance headlined by seven shots in the game's middle period. Jacqueline Alaburda (eight shots in the game) tried to get Hilbert on the board early with a pair of shots inside three minutes, but she was denied by MCLA goalie Juliette Barney.

The Trailblazers didn't strike until 13:54 into the first period, but when they did, the flood gates opened. In the remaining six minutes of the frame, the visitors struck twice more, before adding a pair of goals in the second period to take a 5-0 advantage into the third period.

An early goal in the final frame denied any chance at a Hilbert comeback as the Trailblazers held a 6-0 lead. MCLA added a seventh and final goal 6:02 into the third period to wrap up the scoring in the contest.
