HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert Women's Hockey faced off against Anna Maria College at home for the second day in a row this afternoon. Much like game one last night, the visiting AMCATS found success in the offensive zone, while denying the Hawks of quality chances in their own zone on their way to an 8-1 victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Anna Maria picked up where the left off last night, as their offense got going early in the contest. The AMCATS struck three times in the opening frame, including a powerplay tally to create a 3-0 lead after one period of play.
Hilbert opened the scoring in the second period on a powerplay opportunity halfway through the frame.
Jacqueline Alaburda kept the puck in at the blue line to deny an Anna Maria clearing attempt and immediately fired the puck toward the net of the AMCATS.
Kaitlin Cowie was parked in front of the net where she deflected the puck by the Anna Maria goalie to cut the lead to 3-1.
However, Anna Maria quickly answered the Hilbert goal with an offensive onslaught, including three goals in under two minutes to end the period with a 7-1 advantage.
An Anna Maria powerplay marker in the third period wrapped up the scoring in the game to make it an 8-1 final.
