AURORA, N.Y. – The Hilbert College Men's Basketball team finally got out of Buffalo today after several days being cooped up on campus under several feet of snow.
The Hawks were slow coming out the gate, falling behind 46-28 at half time and never really picked up their energy in the second period, suffering a 103-59 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference loss to Wells College
Wells (3-12, 2-6 AMCC) pressured the Hawks with a soft full court defense while rotating between zone and man in the quarter court to keep Hilbert from getting into an offensive rhythm after an eight-day break.
Jahmel Demery kept the Hilbert involved hitting mid-range jumpers at the start of the second half but Wells ran their patterns and knocked down back-to-back threes as they built a 72-39 margin with more than 12 minutes left in the half.
Quran Briggs scored a quick six points which allowed Hilbert to extend their defensive pressure. But Wells continued to attack and converted at the rim or inside the arc stretching their lead even further.
Once stats are provided, a more detailed recap will be posted.
