ERIE, Pa. – After falling in a deep hole by half time, the Hilbert College Women's Basketball team's 33 point second-half production wasn't enough punch for the Hawks to recover by the final horn.
Penn State Behrend (6-1) earned a 75-50 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference victory over the 1-6 Hawks in the Junker Center tonight.
HIGHLIGHTS
Hilbert out worked Behrend in the second half building a 24-14 advantage on the glass, recording 13 offensive rebounds in the final 20 minutes of the game.
Kelsey Schlagenhauf hit 9-of-12 from the foul line leading the Hawks in scoring with 17 points, while
Alesia Hamm recorded her third consecutive double-double scoring 14 points while pulling down eight of her 12 rebounds on the offensive glass.
Chloe Champagne chipped in eight points and led the Hawks with two assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hilbert faced pressure right away in the opening quarter, losing 12 offensive possessions to turnovers. Hilbert secured six offensive rebounds in quarter but finished only one of ten shots from the floor while the Lions finished the period hitting 60% from the field.
- The Hawks recovered in the second quarter, held onto the ball longer which gave Mackenzie Catan and Champagne opportunities to strike from downtown, but Hilbert trailed 50-17 at intermission.
- Hilbert came out firing in the third frame, outscoring the Lions 21-15. The Hawks ran their offensive and forced Behrend into five fouls in ten minutes which led to Hilbert making multiple trips to the foul line. The Hawks hit 7-of-10 from the charity stripe while also connecting on 7-of-14 from the field. Hamm led the quarter with nine points.
- Hilbert forced the Lions into four turnovers in the fourth quarter and held them defensively to just 30% from the field. The Hawks grabbed eight offensive rebounds in the frame, attempted 14 free throws and scored 12 points in the last period.
GAME NOTES
Penn State Behrend was whistled for 25 team fouls giving the Hawks 32 attempts from the foul line.
Hilbert built a 39-29 margin in rebounds and hustled to 20 offensive rebounds while limiting the Lions to nine and finished with a 13-5 advantage in second chance points.

Hilbert travels this weekend for another AMCC contest in Pennsylvania. The Hawks will battle at Mount Aloysius College January 13 in a 1 pm tip inside the Convocation and Wellness Center.
