HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert women's soccer dropped today's contest to the visiting Fredonia Blue Devils. Fredonia fired 25 shots at the Hawks net on their way to an 8-1 victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fredonia wasted no time getting on the board in this one, as Katie Sellers put the Blue Devils up 1-0 five minutes in. They kept the offensive pressure on with seven consecutive shots that would be sent aside by Hilbert goalkeeper
Jordan Brown. However, the next two Blue Devil shots found the back of the net to make it a 3-0 game at the half.
It would be Hilbert who kicked off the scoring in the second half through a
Hannah Brock volley from outside the box. The
Brock strike, assisted by
Chloe Champagne, made it a 3-1 game just seven minutes into the half. Despite a ten save half from goalkeeper
Hailey Kuder, Fredonia piled on five more goals to bring the final score to 8-1.
GAME NOTES
- Grace Zabawa led the offense with three shots on net.
- Brock scored her first career goal.
- Kuder made 10 saves in relief of Brown, who made 7.
