HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert College Women's Basketball team took on AMCC opponent, University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg today in the Hafner Recreation Center. Despite a strong effort they lost their second meeting by a score of 62-48. The Hawks move to 3-7 in AMCC play this season.
HIGHLIGHTS
Ashley Schroeder led the Hawks in scoring today with 20 points, she also recorded 5 assists which led the team.
Monika Allen was next for the Hawks in scoring with 8 points.
Alesia Hamm had the most rebounds on the day for the Hawks with 9.
Chloe Champagne led the Hawks with 2 steals while also recording 3 points and 4 rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first quarter was a very close back and forth where neither team could gain any ground. Both teams were draining shots from everyone on the court. Ashley Schroeder started the scoring for the Hawks with a made jumper in the paint and just a minute later Mackenzie Catan would hit from 3 point range to give the Hawks a lead. Belle Oakley connected on back to back 2 point shots which helped to keep the game close as the first quarter came to a close with the Hawks only trailing by 1 point.
- The second quarter is where their opponent really came to life. Alesia Hamm started the quarter for the Hawks with 2 made free throws but that would be the only points they scored until the final minute of the quarter. Greensburg went on an 11 point run which gave them the 32-31 point lead going with only half of the game left to play.
- The third quarter was more of the same with Greensburg gaining a bigger a lead. In the third quarter they outscored the Hawks 27-13. In this quarter though Kelsey Schlagenhauf and Grace Zabawa would hit their first shots of the game. With only 1 quarter to play the Hawks trailed 59-34.
- In a last quarter push to tie the game the Hawks laid on the pressure and dominated the fourth quarter. They only allowed Greensburg to score 3 points. To start it off Mackenzie Catan would hit her second 3 of the game and shortly after Ashley Schroeder would score in the paint trying to claw back into the game. In the end they would come up short losing 62-48.
GAME NOTES
Greensburg gained a large edge in their game with the ability to score off of turnovers as they scored 15 while Hilbert only scored 3. Hilbert shot 19 for 64 today while also shooting 3 for 22 from 3 point range and 7 for 12 from the free throw line.

th at 7:00 in the Hafner Recreation Center. They will take on AMCC opponent Alfred State.
