ERIE, P.A. – The Hilbert Women's Basketball team travelled today to take on Penn State Behrend tonight in another AMCC clash. Last time the two met Behrend won 84-44. Penn State Behrend managed to sweep the Hawks in this season series with the 99-38 win today.

Mackenzie Catan led the Hawks today in scoring both recording 8 points. Not far behind were
Ashley Schroeder with 7,
Kelsey Schlagenhauf with 6, and
Monika Allen with 4.

Maria Spinelli led the team with 6 rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- As play started the Hawks could not get anything going as Penn State would go on a 17-0 run to open the game. Alesia Hamm scored the first points for the Hawks with 2 free throw makes to get the Hawks on the board. A couple minutes later Ashley Schroeder would score her first points of the game with a made 3. The first quarter came to a close at 32-9 in favor of Penn State.
- Penn State continued their great play into the second quarter continuing to pile the pressure and points on. Maria Spinelli scored the first points of the quarter for the Hawks with a made layup while Ashley Schroeder and Alesia Hamm both made 2 point buckets of their own to make up the Hawks scoring in the second quarter.
- After a rough first half the Hawks kept working hard in the third quarter. Chloe Champagne started the Hawks off with a 3 pointer, later on Mackenzie Catan would also hit from 3 point range.
- In the fourth quarter Penn State continued to pile on the offense and kept up the pressure on Hilbert causing many turnovers. At the end of the fourth Monika Allen was able to make both a jump shot and a layup. The game ended 99-38.
GAME NOTES
The Hawks were pressured most of the night which led to a big deficit in the turnover category, Hilbert had 30 and Penn State only had 12. This led to Penn State outscoring Hilbert 40-7 in points off of turnovers. Hilbert shot 11 of 53 today and 4 of 16 from 3 point range.

The Hawks next game will be played on February 4
th at 3:00 in the Hafner Recreation Center. They will take on AMCC opponent University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg for the second time this season.
