HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hilbert controlled the pace of the game from start to finish. Bradford opened the game with a full court press, but the Hawks were able to break that trapping pressure with ease forcing the Panthers to drop back into man defense. The home team found open players coming off screens for easy points in the paint as they built a 16-13 advantage by the start of the second quarter.
- Both teams cooled off in the second ten-minute period though Hilbert got scoring out of four different players highlighted by Belle Oakley's hit from downtown.
- Hilbert came out of the locker room ready to take over the game. Catan sandwiched her old fashioned 3-point play and made 3-pointer around Johnson's back-to-back buckets to give Hilbert its first double digit lead (35-25) with just over five minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Hawks closed the period on an 8-2, setting an 18-point spread before the fourth.
- Spinelli's layup at 5:14 in the 4th gave Hilbert a 24-point lead, and the Hawks just rolled to the final horn.
GAME NOTES
Hilbert finished with the strongest shooting performance of the season, hitting 22-of-60 shots (36.7%) and 17-of-20 (85.0%) at the foul line.
The Hawks defense limited the Panthers to under 50 points off 26.3% shooting from the floor.
Hilbert finished with a 45-37 advantage on the glass and was credited with 14 assists on the 22 made buckets.
