HIRAM, OH. – Hilbert Men's Basketball saw their seven-game win streak come to an end this evening at the hands of the Hiram College Terriers. Hiram shot 50% from deep in their 91-83 victory.
HIGHLIGHTS
Shaheem Ellis led the Hawks in scoring in this one, making six three pointers in his 22-point effort. Ellis also added four steals, three assists and two rebounds.
Quran Briggs and
Edward Perez also had productive games scoring the ball, with 18 and 14 points, respectively. Both players pulled down six boards and dished out an assist.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Four quick points from Briggs, as well as a three from Ellis and a free throw from Trevon Alexis allowed the Hawks to jump out to an 8-7 lead early in the contest.
- Hiram answered with a 12-2 run to take a nine-point advantage.
- The hosting Terriers held the lead for the rest of the half, but the Hawks never let it get out of reach, with the lead never growing beyond eight points.
- A three-point-play by Jahmel Demery late in the half cut the lead to just three points heading into the break.
- Kyreese Fisher tied up the contest with an early three out of the break.
- The teams traded buckets and the lead, as the game would eventually be knotted at 55 with twelve minutes to go.
- A 12-1 run by Hiram gave the Terriers control of the game.
- This time the comeback efforts of the Hawks would be stalled, as the lead grew to as many as 18 points.
- A personal 10-1 run by Ellis cut the lead to single digits, but time ran out on the Hawks as they would ultimately fall 91-83.
GAME NOTES
Kyreese Fisher and
Justin Poumpey continued to control the offense for Hilbert as they each dished out five assists.
The Terriers used their advantages in points off turnovers (19-12), second chance points (15-11), bench points (27-23), points in the paint (40-36), and fastbreak points (21-12) to end the win streak of the Hawks.

After the winter break, the Hawks will return home to the Hafner Recreation Center. Their January 3
rd matchup with Pitt Greensburg (3 PM) begins a stretch of 14-straight conference games to end the season.
