HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Alleghany Mountain Collegiate Conference released the 2023 Men's Soccer Postseason honors this morning and sophomore
Jason Vullo was honored with an All-Conference nod.
Along with the conference title, Alfred State picked up a trio of postseason honors. Garret Potts (Co-Offensive Player of the Year), Jack Leahy (Co-Defensive Player of the Year) and Gabe Kuhn (Coach of the Year) collected awards for the Pioneers. Juan Camacho from Mount Aloysius (Co-Offensive Player of the Year), Justin LeDonne from Penn State Behrend (Co-Defensive Player of the Year) and Matt Armenio from Pitt-Greensburg (Newcomer of the Year) round of the honors.
Jason Vullo (Buffalo, N.Y./Kenmore West) was named to the All-Conference Second Team for his success on the field, and his contribution to leading the Hawks back to the playoffs. The team's 4-5 record in conference play was the best since the 2013-14 season (Also 4-5). An AMCC Second Team nod is the highest honor a member of Hilbert Men's Soccer has earned since the 2014-15 season.
Jason Vullo's pace caused problems for defenders all season, as he earned his team many dangerous free kick and penalty kick opportunities. Vullo stepped up when he was needed in AMCC conference play with seven goals in nine games including a hat trick to beat Pitt Bradford 3-2. Every goal Jason scored was of real importance with three game winners helping the team finish in 6th place.
Vullo's work this season helped propel him up the ranks on many program leaderboards. His eight-goal campaign improved him to 6th all time in goals (17) and second in goals per game (0.53). With three crucial game-winning goals, Vullo is now tied for the program lead with four game winning goals in his career. His 22 shots on goal this season moved him up to 4th all time in total shots on goal (48) and 2nd all time in shots on goal per game (1.50). With 16 points on the season, Vullo cracked the Hawks' top 10 list in total points (9th, 36 points).
