Hawks Dominate Carlow in 4-0 Shutout Win

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Hilbert men's soccer team earned a decisive conference victory Wednesday afternoon, defeating Carlow University 4-0 at FNB Stadium.

Hilbert controlled the match from the opening whistle, peppering the Carlow goal with scoring opportunities and building a three-goal lead before halftime. The Hawks struck first when Brian Frazer finished a cross from Noah Okeke, tapping home the game's opening goal at 10:36.

The Hawks doubled their advantage just over 20 minutes later as Okeke delivered a highlight-reel finish, chipping a shot over the goalkeeper and into the top corner in the 33rd minute. Just 69 seconds later, Cam Murdie added to the lead, breaking free of the defense and finishing off an assist from Cheyne Morton to give Hilbert a commanding 3-0 cushion.

After taking the three-goal advantage into the locker room, Hilbert continued to dictate play throughout the second half. The Hawks generated 11 more shots after intermission and finally added a fourth goal in the 80th minute. Following a rebound off the crossbar, Okeke was in position to tap home his second goal of the afternoon and cap the scoring at 4-0. Vincent Nkurunziza collected an assist on the goal.

Okeke led the offensive attack with two goals and an assist in his debut, while Frazer and Murdie added a goal each and Morton and Nkurunziza provided assists.

Hilbert dominated statistically, out shooting Carlow 25-5 and holding a 13-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Hawks also earned nine corner kicks compared to five for the Celtics.

In net, Colten Wolowski recorded the shutout, making three saves over 90 minutes of action. Hamso Dagane paced the Hawks with seven shots, while Frazer and Okeke each recorded four attempts. Hilbert placed 13 shots on frame and controlled possession throughout much of the contest.
