HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The game started out with the teams' trading buckets. Four lead changes in the first ten minutes of the contest ultimately resulted in the score knotted at 18 halfway through the first half.
  • Hilbert grabbed its' largest lead of the game (8 points) on a Jackson 3-pointer with four to go in the half.
  • An immediate 13-3 run by Fredonia to end the half gave them a 36-34 advantage heading into the locker room.
  • The teams started the second half like they started the first; trading the lead. In the first 10 minutes of the second half, each side held a largest lead of three points.
  • The Blue Devils looked to pull away with back-to-back three pointers extending the lead to eight points with seven minutes go.
  • However, five points by each Perez and Demery ignited an 11-3 Hilbert run to tie the game for the 12th and final time.
  • The final three minutes saw Fredonia make five free throws to maintain the lead.
  • Hilbert stayed in it, never allowing the lead to extend beyond three.
  • A late turnover by the Hawks on a baseline out-of-bounds play sealed the entertaining 79-76 victory for the Blue Devils.
