GENEVA, N.Y. – The hosting Herons from William Smith college used a complete effort from start to finish to take down Hilbert Women's Hockey 11-0 tonight. The Herons held the Hawks to just ten shots on their net, while firing off 75 shots of their own.
HOW IT HAPPENED
William Smith shared their goals among six skaters while twelve skaters totaled at least a point for the Herons. All but one skater for the hosts recorded a shot on Hilbert goalie
Tia Card. The goals in this contest came evenly split between the three periods, with three coming in the first, and four Heron goals in both the second and third periods.
The Hilbert penalty kill went a perfect 2/2 in the contest, thanks to seven saves from Card while playing four on five.
Jacqueline Alaburda (1) and
Caitlin Conrad (2) each chipped in with key blocked shots against the William Smith powerplay unit. The team committed to blocking shots all game with six different skaters combing for a total of 19 blocks. Alaburda and Conrad each led the way with five, while
Abby MacNeil (3),
Anna Faulkner (3)
Sophia Perry (2), and
Abby Dawson (1), each kept pucks from getting to Card.

Next up for the Hawks is their second annual outdoor game at Riverworks in downtown Buffalo. Chatham University will come to town next Tuesday, the 21st , for a 4 PM puck drop at the outdoor venue.
