ASTON, PA – Hilbert Women's Hockey suffered a 5-0 defeat tonight at Iceworks Rinks. The hosting Knights from Neumann University used strong defensive play and a plethora of shots to come out on top.
HOW IT HAPPENED
A scoreless first period saw stellar goaltending on each side of the ice. Hilbert goalie
Tia Card stopped all 13 shots sent her way in the frame, including three on the lone Knight powerplay of the opening 20. Five different Hawk skaters recorded a shot on net in the first, but none were able beat the Neumann netminder.
The offense of the Knights picked up in the second period to help them take control of the game. Card matched her save total from the first, but the quantity of shots by Neumann eventually got them on the board. A trio of Knight goals in a ten-minute span gave the hosts a commanding 3-0 lead heading into the final frame.
The game stayed at 3-0 for the first half of the period, but a Neumann powerplay goal with a little over nine minutes to go all but put the game away. The Knights added a late tally with 30 seconds to go to wrap up the scoring and complete their 5-0 win.

The two teams are back at it again tomorrow at 2 PM to complete their two-game weekend set. Iceworks rinks will be the venue again as the Hawks look to even up the weekend doubleheader.
