HAMBURG, N.Y. – Ten straight goals helped Hilbert Women's Soccer cruise to a 10-1 win. The win over visiting Pitt-Bradford came after the Hawks celebrated their seniors,
Abigail O'Hara,
Hannah Brock, and
Kaitlyn Sobczak.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Despite four straight shots by the Hawks to start the game, it was Bradford that got on the board first. Delaney Stowe fired home a penalty-kick to give the visiting Panthers a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute.
However, it did not take long for the Hawks to answer, as
Gabrielle Avallone finished off the first of
Riley Cullen's three assists to tie the game at 1. The game would not stay tied for long, as the Hawks took the lead less than a minute after the equalizer.
Grace Zabawa played a through ball to
Chloe Champagne, who found
Evin Stauffer all alone on the back post for the first of her three-goal effort. The Hawks would add another just before the whistle blew for halftime.
Gabby Calandra's perfectly placed shot in the upper corner extended the Hilbert lead to 3-1 in the 44th minute of the contest. Cullen collected her second assist on the goal.
Just like last game, the goals piled up for the Hawks in the second half of this one. Both Avallone and Stauffer scored a pair of second-half goals to complete their hat tricks.
Senior defenders, Brock and Sobczak got in on the scoring action in their last regular season game on Hawk Field. The first of Sobczak's career came on a penalty-kick in the 53rd minute. Brock, playing a more offensive role in the second half, found the back of the net twice, adding to her career year in terms of offensive output.
GAME NOTES
- Keira McFarland earned the win in net.
- Stauffer and Avallone each recorded hat tricks on four shots.
