BRADFORD, P.A. – Hilbert College's Women's Basketball team traveled today and earned a 55-52 AMCC victory over the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford..
HIGHLIGHTS
Ashley Schroeder led the Hawks with 21 points while recording eight rebounds and six steals, and
Alesia Hamm added 13 points and led the team with 16 rebounds, nine on the offensive glass.
Belle Oakley also recorded nine points and eight rebounds while
Maria Spinelli collected seven rebounds (4 offensive).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Alesia Hamm started out the scoring for Hawks after grabbing a defensive rebound then going down the court and making a layup. Pitt-Bradford went on a run and built a 13-6 lead withe 1:41 left in the first quarter. Ashley Schroeder's hit back-to-back jumpers and Hamm made one free throw to pull within two points after ten minutes.
- Hamm knotted the game on her offensive rebound-put-back on the first possession of the second quarter and Schroeder lifted Hilbert for the first time 15-13 just 100 seconds in. The game would stay tight the rest of the second quarter as both teams battled through four lead changes. With the score tied 21-all, Schroeder and Hamm combined for the next five Hilbert points giving the Hawks the 26-23 advantage at the break.
- Hilbert maintained control on the score board through the third session, and extended their lead to as many as seven points midway through. Mackenzie Catan, Belle Oakley (3) and Schroeder (3) gave the Hawks the lift they needed which set the 34-27 score at 4:46. Bradford closed the quarter going on a 5-1 run which put them down by one point 39-40 by the start of the fourth quarter.
- Bradford jumped back on top at the start of the fourth but Chloe Champagne sank two free throws to elevate the Hawks 42-41. Both teams traded buckets until the Panthers tacked two possessions together to go up 46-45. Hilbert responded and stretched their lead back to four points with 2:33 remaining. Bradford, trailing 49-52, drilled a 3-pointer to force a 52-all score with 0:16 left on the game clock. Six seconds later, Chloe Champagne scores the game winning 3-pointer giving Hilbert the 55-52 victory.
GAME NOTES
- Hilbert shot 30.4-percent from the floor and made 10-of-19 shots from the foul line. while also shooting 10 for 19 from the free point line.
- The Hawks scored 11 fast-break points and were credited with 13 second-chance points.

Hilbert will travel to Altoona, Pa. this weekend for a rematch against Penn State Altoona. The women's game will be played on January 28th at 3:00 PM.
