NASHUA, N.H. - The Hilbert College Hawks ice hockey team traveled to New Hampshire to take on the Rivier University Raiders on Friday the 13th.
How it Happened: The Raiders took a two goal lead into the first intermission but the Hawks didn't let that get them down. The second period went scoreless thanks in large part to hard working defensive play and
Jewely Monford playing outstanding in net stopping 39 of the 42 shots she faced. Rivier netted their third and final goal of the game just over a minute into the 3rd period, but the resilient Hawks still didn't show signs of slowing down.
With 90-seconds left in the game
Abby Dawson sent
Jacqueline Alaburda up the ice with a great pass to break out of the defensive zone. Jackie took off with speed, made some thrilling moves into the offensive zone, and scored her first collegiate goal making the contest 3-1. That's how the scored finished, 3-1. A vast improvement in from the Cortland game on Tuesday that the Hawks look to build off of for the remainder of the season.
What's Next: The Hawks and Raiders square up one more time, tomorrow, at 3:40PM at the Conway Ice Arena in Nashua.Â
