BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Hilbert College Hawks women's ice hockey team hosted a top 20-opponent in SUNY Cortland on Tuesday afternoon. The game was a special event for both the Red Dragons and the Hawks as it was played in downtown Buffalo at the Buffalo RiverWorks which features 2-outdoor sheets of ice. "Hosting an outdoor game as a first-year program is something I really wanted to do for our players. It's a special moment any hockey game is played outdoors and looking around at this venue it's easy get lost in the scene. We look forward to hosting another outdoor game next season and continuing that tradition for years to come" said Coach Klubek.
What Happened: Cortland started their scoring just 15-seconds into the game and never looked back scoring 13 more times before the game concluded. Special teams looked better today in the limited action as the Hawks didn't give up a powerplay or a shorthanded goal. Both teams played a clean game of hockey only taking one penalty apiece. As a team, the Hawks blocked 17 shots on net once again solidifying the level of effort they're giving for their team.
Tia Card made 53 saves in net.
Jewely Monford suited up this game as a player rather than in net and played very well in her role for the day.
What's Next: The Hawks travel to Nashua, New Hampshire, for a pair of weekend games against Rivier University on Friday and Saturday.
