HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College freshman
Griffin McAndrews was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week April 11.
The RHP played a vital role in last week for the Hawks out of the bullpen, picking up both a win and save. On Tuesday, the West Seneca West graduate tossed 1.2 scoreless innings of relief picking up the win at Pitt-Bradford. Then on Saturday, with the Hawks in a bases-loaded jam and 4-2 lead in the top of the 6th, McAndrews entered the game, struck out the next batter and advanced the game to the bottom half of the inning. He proceeded to throw the final nine outs of the game, striking out four more batters without a run scored and earned his second save of the season.
McAndrews finished the week with a .167 batting average against after allowing just three hits over two appearances. The right-hander is now 1-0 with a pair of saves over 8.0 innings pitched in conference play and has yet to allow a run this season.
