MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Hilbert offense poured in 31 runs in the doubleheader this afternoon against Rivier University resulting in a pair of wins for the royal and white.

Game 1: Hilbert 14, Rivier 4
Game 2: Hilbert 17, Rivier 6

Game One:
* Michael Contini made his first start of the season for the Hawks and kept the Rivier offense in check throughout. The southpaw tossed six strong innings allowing only five hits and four runs while tallying seven strikeouts.
* Hilbert came out of the gates hot, scoring 12 runs over the first three frames to take a commanding 12-3 lead into the fourth. From there, Contini went to work before handing it off to Jordan Brown whom closed out the seventh without giving up a run and struck out a pair.
* Six Hawks recorded extra base hits, including a pair of home runs from Jairo Santos and John Riviere-Vejas.
* Hilbert also created havoc on the bases, as five Hawks recorded a stolen base.
Game Two:
* Freshman Blaine Morgan made his first career start on the mound in game two. Morgan went three innings, allowing only two earned runs.
* The Hilbert offense started slow in game two, scoring just one run over the first five frames by way of a Derek Martinez single, stolen base and run scored in the third inning.
* Coach Fittry turned to the pen to start the fourth inning by handing the ball to Sebastian Gomez. The freshman southpaw answered the call, allowing just two runs over the final four innings to keep the Hawks in it.
* The Hawks offense came to life late, scoring four runs in the sixth inning and pouring on 12 runs in the seventh to come away with a 17-6 victory.
* Gomez picked up his first collegiate win after striking out three and allowing only one earned run over four frames.
* Six Hawks recorded stolen bases and three recorded extra base hits.
* The play of the game came from Misael Guzman Caez as he came up in the 7th inning tied with bases loaded and hit a bases clearing triple to left center to plate three and ignite the 12 run seventh to lift the Hawks to the win.

* The Hawks have a quick turnaround as they're back in action Tuesday morning at 10am against Penn State Berks. The game will be held at the Chicago Cubs Low-A affiliate, Myrtle Beach Pelicans stadium.
