Hawks Play Spoiler In Mavs Home Opener

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Hawks made the short trip across town to play a single 9 this afternoon to take on the Mavericks. It was the start of a new chapter for the Mavs as they unveiled their new field while hosting Hilbert for their home opener. The Hawks led throughout, topping the Mavs by a final of 11-3.

Final Score: Hilbert 11, Medaille 3

Records: Hilbert 6-10, Medaille 1-4

* The Hawks answered immediately with a run in the top of the fourth off of a Jackson Choinski sac fly to plate Brandon Job to go up 5-1.
* In the sixth, coach Fittry turned to the bullpen, handing the ball to true freshman Blaine Morgan. The mavs touched him up for a pair of hits and runs in the sixth to keep the game close at 6-3.
* Morgan locked in immediately after, blanking the Medaille offense over the final three frames to help the Hawks to an 11-3 win.
