HAMBURG, N.Y. – Penn State Altoona evened the AMCC series this winter after they earned a 65-58 women's basketball victory over the Hawks this afternoon in the Hafner Recreation Center.
The Hawks left too many points at the foul line as the Lions hung on for the road win.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Ashley Schroeder and Macy Kisner paced the Hawks with double doubles this afternoon. Schroeder tossed in 22 points and pulled down 11 rebounds while Kisner canned 18 points and yanked 10 rebounds, six on the offensive end, and led all players with four steals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Schroder led the Hawks with eight-first quarter points, knocking down 2-of-3 beyond the 3 point line.
- The Lions held a 4-2 lead before Kisner's 3-pointer lifted the Hawks by one just three minutes into the game.
- After five lead changes, Altoona settled into a 16-15 advantage after ten minutes.
- Schroeder and Kisner combined for all 10 Hilbert second quarter points.
- Kisner boosted Hilbert by one point after the break and Schroeder increased the Hawks lead by two after making one of two at the line. Both team played through a pair of knotted scores as the Lions held onto a 26-25 advantage by intermission.
- Altoona outscored Hilbert 19-16 in the third quarter, hitting all three of their free throw attempts while the Hawks missed three from the charity stripe, but knocked in three shots beyond the arc.
- Grace Zabawa struck twice from deep shooting 100% from the field in her three minutes of action and Kisner reached from downtown to add four points. Mackenzie Catan returned after 28 days of rest and found her first bucket 1:32 left in the quarter. The Hawks went 2-for-4 down the stretch and trailed by four points (45-41) heading into the final session.
- Altoona stretched their advantage to as many as eight points (49-41) just 90 seconds into the fourth quarter.
- Kisner tossed in back-to-back buckets and Schroder pulled Hilbert within two after a pair of makes at the foul line.
- The Lions held their composure and outlasted the Hawks down the stretch.
GAME NOTES
- Alesia Hamm dominated the offensive glass outworking the Lions for seven offensive rebounds (9 total) and Grace Zabawa added 11 points off the bench, pairing three deep hits with a short jumper in the paint.
- The Hawks struggled from the floor in both the second and four quarters, hitting just eight of 31 shots (26%). Their .417-percent rate in the third quarter lifted their final outcome of 31% for the game.
- Altoona never dipped below .357-percent as they closed the game hitting 23-of-63 attempts (38%).
- Neither team shot well from the charity stripe, although Hilbert could have taken the contest from 15' out had they converted at a better rate than 13-of-24.
WHAT'S NEXT
Hilbert continues to battle for a post-season play-off spot. They are aiming for as high as the fifth seed as they prepare for the final two league games of the season. The Hawks travel to Pitt-Bradford (1-13) February 16 before the complete the regular season schedule against Mount Aloysius (4-10) next Saturday, February 19.
