Zabawa's 6 points Lift Hilbert to AMCC Victory Over Bradford

HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert College Women's Soccer team earned a 5-2 AMCC victory at Pitt-Bradford this afternoon and picked up their first league win of the season.

Grace Zabawa's six points led Hilbert as four different players scored goals against the winless Panthers.

THE BASICS
  • Final Score:  Hilbert 5  I  Pitt-Bradford  2
  • Location: Kessel Athletic Complex  I Bradford, Pa.
  • Records:  Hilbert 4-5-3, 1-1-1 AMCC  I  Bradford 0-11, 0-3 AMCC
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Grace Zabawa scored her seventh goal of the season less than two minutes into the start of the game and then was credited with an assist to Macy Kisner's goal with less than two minutes left in the half.
  • Hilbert controlled the pace in the opening period, outshooting the hosts 11-3 and forced six additional saves while building a 6-2 advantage in corners.
  • Mirroring the start of the game, Hilbert notched another marker just under two minutes into the second half.  Vanessa Van Slyke took the ball over the goal line with an assist credited to Zabawa lifting Hilbert by three.
  • The Panthers found their first goal eight minutes into the second half off a restart kick by Emily Goetz and she repeated that same feat in the 75th minute.  But that was all Bradford would get off the Hawks' stingy defense.
  • Zabawa dished the ball to a wide-open Kisner in the middle of the box for the fourth score in the game and Chloe Champagne's score at 79:47 turned away any rally chance by the hosts.

GAME NOTES
  • Hilbert finished the game with a 20-9 edge in shots (11-5 on goal) with a 9-2 advantage in corners.
  • Zabawa led the Hawks with six shots, followed by Champagne's five.  Kisner and Zabawa share team-high honors with three shots on-goal each.
  • Hannah Brock was credited with a pair of assists in the game.
  • Today marked the first game in several year that five different players chipped in on the score board.
  • Tahlia Kosek earned her first win of the season going 45 minutes in net before Hailey Kuder closed the game.
