HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert Women's Soccer team showed up for their seniors today as the Hawks earned a hard-fought, well played 2-1 victory over La Roche University.
The Hawks performed well and played as a strong unit all 90 minutes of the AMCC match. Today's outcome matched the last victory Hilbert earned over the Redhawks dating back to October 2009.
The program honored their three senior players and their families prior to the kick.
Julia Hasasneh,
Macy Kisner (1g) and
Grace Zabawa (1g|1a) were impressive in their efforts today playing in the windiest game in Hamburg this fall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams had to adjust their attacks based on the weather this afternoon. The sky was clear most of the afternoon but the wind gust were problematic when passing or shooting against the wind.
- Grace Zabawa put the Hawks on the board first when she followed up her first shot which rebounded off the Redhawk keeper back to her feet. She reacted to the point-blank bullet shot back at her and snuck it to the back of the net in the 16th minute of the first half.
- Macy Kisner finished a Zabawa crossing pass from right to center and scored her sixth goal of the season to lift the Hawks at intermission by two.
- Hilbert controlled the attacking third and middle of the field a majority of the second half but La Roche's Alexis Nudds scored in the 89th minute as her shot benefited from the swirling wind.
GAME NOTES
- The Hawks continued to win first balls and contained La Roche's attack early in the game. Hilbert's defensive back line and middle were outstanding in stopping La Roche's in their offensive third while keeping their shape as they delivered the ball forward for Kisner and Zabawa to challenge offensively.
- Kisner earned game-high honors with seven shots on goal while Zabawa trailed with six.
- Tahlia Kosek earned another 45-minute clean sheet while picking up the win.
