HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert College women's basketball team came out on fire this afternoon in front of a crowd of 67 against AMCC and local adversary Medaille taming the Mavericks 61-45 in the Hafner Recreation Center.

HIGHLIGHTS
Three different Hawks scored double digits, with Mackenzie Catan leading the charge with a career high six 3-pointers for 18 total points and an assist. Ashley Schroeder led next with 14 points and five assists, and Macy Kisner showed up to play with her 11th career double double with 13 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kisner starting the scoring sprint with winning the opening jump ball and scoring a fast break layup off an offensive rebound from a missed 3-pointer from Ashley Schroeder.
- Schroeder then made up for her missed basket and hit a 3-pointer off an assist by Mackenzie Catan.
- Schroeder continued to bring the heat with a defensive rebound in the paint and a fast break layup down the court.
- Schroeder then assisted teammate Macy Kisner on another fast break layup opportunity.
- Medaille continued to stay in their zone defense which provided Macy Kisner an excellent advantage for a good 3-pointer, assisted by Ashley Schroeder.
- Grace Zabawa got into the action by stealing the ball from Medaille straight off the bench and running it in for a textbook layup.
- On the way back down the court, Macy Kisner grabbed another defensive rebound and fed the ball to Grace Zabawa, whom immediately saw Ashley Schroeder hanging on the 3-point line, and passed her the ball for a flashy 3-pointer.
- The Hawks ended the 1st quarter off a lively pressured Grace Zabawa steal which she then converted to a layup in the paint using her speed.
- Grace Zabawa started the scoring off for the Hawks in the second quarter, hitting her 12th 3-pointer of the season bringing the score to 26-14.
- The Hawks were still on fire and pushing the game with Mackenzie Catan scoring another 3-pointer off a pass from Grace Zabawa.
- Macy Kisner grabbed one of her two steals of the game to feed the ball to Mackenzie Catan for another good 3-pointer from behind the line.
- With only 2:45 left in the half, Kendyl Kerner came off the bench to find an open lane and was fed by Mackenzie Catan for two points on her season stats.
- The Hawks continued to show excellent patience and teamwork with a steal by Alesia Hamm that turned into a missed layup, but an offensive rebound by Ashley Schroeder put right back up on the boards turned into a Hawks lead by 18 points.
- The Hawks continued the blitz - Alesia Hamm grabbed an offensive board and hit the jump shot for another two points within the first 15 seconds of the third quarter.
- Medaille continued to stay in their defensive zone even into the third, giving Mackenzie Catan the chance to make two gorgeous 3-pointers within the next two minutes of play - giving Hilbert it's largest lead of the game at 25 points.
- Going into the fourth quarter, the Hawks led 51-39 and showed no signs of letting the Mavericks take control.
- Alesia Hamm stole the ball from one of the Mavericks starting forwards to ignite another scoring blast. Hamm fed the ball to Ashley Schroeder who witnessed Mackenzie Catan sitting in her 3-point sweet spot, she threaded the pass to Catan for another prime 3-pointer.
- The onslaught continued as Alesia Hamm hit a jumper off an assist by Kisner while the shot clock was winding down to single digits.
- Medaille moved out of their defensive zone to a man-to-man coverage, but that didn't stop Grace Zabawa from finding Mackenzie Catan back behind the 3-point line for yet another basket.
- The Hawks never slowed up to allow Medaille to come within range - with Ashley Schroeder grabbing defensive rebounds up until the last three seconds of the game.
GAME NOTES
Mackenzie Catan had a career setting night playing 36 minutes shooting 46%, with six 3-pointers made, three rebounds, and two steals to contribute to the win. Macy Kisner's season high 40 minutes added 13 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Alesia Hamm also had another monster game shooting 50% in 38 minutes, with a season high 13 rebounds, seven points, and also two steals. Ashley Schroeder played 40 minutes as well, shooting 31 % with 14 points and a team game high of five assists, two blocks, and a steal.
The Hawks shot 34.3 percent from the floor, 25 percent from deep and went to the foul line four times, shooting a miraculous 62.5%. They earned a total 40 boards and committed only nine turnovers.
Medaille shot 35.7 percent from the field, made only 16.7 percent of their 3-point attempts, and went to the foul line only five times, scoring three out of 10 opportunities. They out rebounded the Hawks by four rebounds 44-40.
