Hilbert Rolls to Their Fourth Consecutive Win

CRESSON, Pa.  – The Hilbert College women's basketball team, playing their third game in four days, claimed a decisive 39-21 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference victory over Mount Aloysius today.  After another hard fought win, Hilbert created space between themselves and teams below them in league standings while moving into 5th place.

Macy Kisner dominated the 40-minute game today earning game-high honors in points (13), rebounds (15) and steals (7).

THE BASICS
  • Final Score: Hilbert 39  |  Mount Aloysius 21
  • Location: Convocation & Wellness Center, Cresson, Pa.
  • Records: I  Hawks 5-12, 4-4  AMCC | Mounties 2-10, 2-3 AMCC
HIGHLIGHTS

  • Macy Kisner collected her third double-double this week while playing the full 40-minute game with only one foul yet working for seven steals.
  • Ashley Schroeder and Alesia Hamm gave two more impressive performances adding 12 and 11 points respectively.
  • Hamm, the most underrated rebounder in the league, worked for seven more offensive rebounds (12 total) while Schroeder hit 7-of-8 attempts from 15-feet out and added seven rebounds and three assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Hilbert won all four quarters, taking a 12-5 lead into the second session.  Both teams had a difficult time scoring in the  second 10-minute period (6-5) as Hilbert went to the locker room up, 18-10.
  • The Hawks continued to roll in the second half, winning 11-8 and 10-3.
  • Mount Aloysius built their only lead in the game off their first possession (2-0).
  • Hamm and Kisner started the 7-0 run which lifted the Hawks 7-2.
  • Schroeder connected from deep and Kisner scored her third bucket of the quarter giving Hilbert the seven point lead after 10 minutes.
  • Hilbert attempted their most shots in the game in the second quarter, but their 16.6-percent shooting performance didn't help.  What was impressive was that they limited Mt. Aloysius to their fewest field goal attempts (10) in a quarter en route to their low offensive performance.
  • Schroeder's two hits from the foul line was quickly followed by a Kisner steal and transition score in the paint for a 22-10 score at 6:10.
  • Hamm's free throw gave Hilbert their largest lead in the quarter with just under 90 seconds left in the third quarter (29-16).
  • Kisner (3-pointer) and Hamm (offensive rebound which then led to a three-point play) continued to pour the points on the score board for Hilbert as their offensive efforts stretched the margin to 18 points (37-19) late in the game.
  • Schroeder's pair at the charity stripe finished the game's scoring with over two minutes left on the clock.

GAME NOTES
  • Both teams used the full 30-second shot clock when they ran a patterned offensive.
  • Hilbert finished the game hitting 21.3-percent from the field, 10.5-percent from deep and made 11-of-16 at the foul line.  They limited the hosts to only 16.3-percent from the floor, 18.2-percent from beyond the arc and gave them only 4 shots from the foul line which results in one make.
  • Hilbert cleared the glass for 50 boards, 17 offensive as they picked up their fifth win of the season.
WHAT'S NEXT

Hilbert deserves the mid-week bye next week.

They will rest and recover as they prepare for their next game in the Hafner against Pitt-Greensburg January 22 with a 1pm tip.
