ALFRED, N.Y. - The Hilbert College baseball team celebrated their five graduating seniors on Sunday afternooon as they took on Alfred State College in an AMCC doubleheader. Seniors

Daniel Munn,
Zach Scharett,
Edward Smallman and
Jared Welnowski were honored prior to the games for their commitment and efforts during their time sporting the royal and white. The Hawks dropped both games of the doubleheader to conclude regular season play.
GAME ONE
The Hilbert offense got the scoring started early as they took advantage of a throwing error on the infield to plate a pair of runs.
Colton Davis reached on the throwing error which plated
Misael Guzman Caez.
Brandon Job followed by knocking in Davis with an RBI single down the left field line.
Starter
Zachary Crane held the lead through three innings after scattering three hits to keep the Hawks up 2-1 heading into the fourth.
The Pioneers took the lead in the bottom of the fourth after Matteo Avallone launched a 2-run home run to left field to put them up 4-2. They followed in the fifth with an insurance run to take game one 5-2.
Zachary Crane took the loss on the mound after tossing 4.2 innings.
Colin Windle tossed a scoreless 1.1 innings in relief.
Misael Guzman Caez added a pair of stolen bases.
GAME TWO
The Hawks came out flat in game two and the Pioneers took full advantage. Alfred State chased the Hawks starter
Colin Windle after 1.1 innings.
Hilbert turned to their pen in the second and each pen arm called upon struggled to keep the Pios off the board, resulting in multi-runs from the Pioneers in each of the first four frames.
The Hawks bench showed fight late as they led a 3-run rally in the sixth.
Zachary Crane got the offense started with a one out single to centerfield. Two batters later
Nicholas Wilson ripped an RBI single up the middle to plate Crane.
Nicholas Barberio followed with his first career hit when he sent a single to left and
Emmanuel McClain capped off the scoring with a 2-RBI double to right center.
The late-inning rally was too little too late as the Hawks fell to Alfred State 31-3.
Nicholas Barberio had a strong performance at the dish going 2 for 2 with a run scored off the bench.
The Hawks now wait to hear the final seeding for AMCC postseason play. The final regular season standings and playoff seeding will be announced Monday afternoon.
