HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College's Melanie Basile was recognized when the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference announced the 2021 Softball Post-Season Honors today. 
 
Penn State Behrend's Mackenzie McIntire was named the Player of the Year and her rookie teammate Maria Jones was tabbed Newcomer of the Year.
 
Pitt-Bradford's Jordan Uhing was selected as the Pitcher of the Year and her mentor, Tina Phillips, was voted the Coach of the Year.
 
Senior Melanie Basile earned her first post-season conference honor after competing in less-than-three full seasons of competition.  The Williamsville South High School graduate has played just about every position during her days as a Hawk and was honored as a Second Team All-Conference selection as one of the top six Outfielders this spring.
 
Basile started all 20 games this year and, as the lead-off batter, led Hilbert with 24 hits, 15 runs scored, 31 total bases and a .364 batting average off 66 at-bats.  She poked four doubles, hit one home run and knocked in seven runs with a .861 on-base plus slugging percent.  Basile closed her final season in the outfield with a .983 fielding percentage fueled by 58 putouts in 60 chances with only one error.
 
The 2021 Hawks opened their season March 3 with a non-conference double header at D'Youville but then had to wait 34 days to squeeze in a full 16-game AMCC schedule over the course of 10 days.  Basile helped her Hawks move into the AMCC Post-Season Tournament for the second time during her four-year career.  No. 9 Hilbert dropped the best-of-3 play-in game at No. 8 Alfred State and finished the year with a 1-19 overall record.
 
No. 7 La Roche upset No. 2 Pitt-Bradford with a pair of 1-0 victories knocking the Panthers out of post-season play early.   No. 1 Penn State Behrend earned their ninth AMCC title with a doubleheader sweep of Mount Aloysius College May 15th.
