HAMBURG, N.Y. – Melanie Basile and Victoria Grayson have been named the Hilbert Hawks of the Week, April 26.

Both softball players thrived during three days of double header Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action due to multiple postponements related to Covid-19 contract tracing protocols.  The Hawks battled Pitt-Bradford (1-9/1-8) and Penn State Behrend (1-7/3-11) in two away games 90 minutes from campus.  They then closed the road-trip in Pittsburgh with a 9-1 loss to La Roche before earning their first win of the season 13-9 over the Redhawks.

Senior Melanie Basile (Williamsville, N.Y.) led the charge with .444 batting average over the course of six games.  She earned eight hits, knocked in four runs with only three strikeouts with a 100 percent fielding accuracy.  The senior outfielder went 2 for 3, scored three runs with 1 RBI and four putouts in the win over La Roche.

Junior Victoria Grayson (Pittsburgh, Pa/Shaler Area) also came up big during the six games played in three days.  She connected .385 at the plate earning one hit in five of the six games played.  The starting catcher finished the week with three doubles that knocked in two runs in the two league games played Sunday at La Roche.
