HOW IT HAPPENED
- La Roche started the scoring off, but it was a fast break layup by Macy Kisner assisted by a threaded pass by Alesia Hamm that ignited the scoring for the Hawks. Kisner was fouled as the basket went in and hit her free throw catching the Hawks up within 1.
- Hilbert didn't stop there - Alesia Hamm hit a layup in the paint, followed by another layup by Macy Kisner, followed by a layup by Ashley Schroeder - igniting the Hawks offense.
- The Hawks continued with a steal and another two layups by Kisner, and a textbook jumper from Ashley Schroeder to end the first quarter with a seven point lead, 16-9.
- Hilbert continued their push well into the second quarter with scoring contributions from Macy Kisner with eight points and a steal, and six points and a block from Ashley Schroeder.
- Coach Bullock felt confident as she headed into the locker room at halftime with a lead of 34-31 over AMCC foe La Roche.
- Hilbert was able to keep their lead after halftime for the first four minutes with intense back and forth play, but it was La Roche that stole the show for the second half. Hilbert would not recover the lead for the rest of the game.
- The Hawks continued to battle with Macy Kisner's fast hand tap from behind steals, Alesia Hamm's dominance on the defensive boards, and Ashley Schroeder's model jumpers in the paint.
- By the fourth quarter, the Hawks had lost their rhythm and unfortunately one of their leading scorers with Ashley Schroeder fouling out in the first minute of play.
- Hilbert continued to try to establish a run but felt the hole left in their system with the absence of Schroeder - scoring only eight points in the fourth quarter to finish the game.
