HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Keuka College opening the game foreshadowing their game plan.  They hit a flurry of three point shots and never trailed in the opening half.
  • Quran Briggs' hot hand kept Hilbert within reach scoring eight of the Hawks' first 10 points.
  • Elijah Powell finished a nice feed in the paint (from Jahmel Demery) and sliced the margin to one possession, but when the Wolves struck again from deep, they started a 7-0 run and established a double figure lead with 13 minutes left in the half.
  • Keuka continued to pressure in the full court but the Hawks slowly chipped away on the scoreboard.
  • Scott Warner, Demery (6 points) and Zach Miller each found room in the paint pulling Hilbert closer.  Nevada Eldridge's layup with less than one-second left in the half sliced the margin to five points (51-46).
    • Keuka made nine 3-point shots in the opening half but the Hawks dominated the offensive glass earning 18 by the break.
  • Shawn Gashi hit a three  and Powell knotted the game at 51-51 on the Hawks' next trip down the floor (19:10) but they just didn't get over the hump.
  • Jon Evan's dunk at 10:24 sliced the difference back to one point (72-73).
  • The hosts continued to reach from downtown, hitting back-to-back 3's and extended their control for a few minutes longer.
  • Keuka hit a pair at the charity stripe to go back up by nine (86-77) but that wasn't enough for Hilbert.
  • Michael Pollard's jumper, two buckets by Ellis, a jumper by Briggs and good team defense pulled Hilbert within striking distance again.
  • Evans scored the go-ahead bucket with 1:15 on the clock (96-95) and Ellis went 1-for-2 at the foul line with 0:33.
  • A Hilbert foul with 0:16 seconds remaining gave the Wolves three freebies at the foul line, which they converted taking the lead back 98-97 with 0:16 on the clock.
  • Gashi found Evans for the winning buck in the lane and witnessed a desperation three-pointer fall short at the buzzer for the victory.

GAME NOTES

  • There were only three lead changes in the game, two gained by the Hawks in the game's final 70 seconds.
  • Hilbert outscored the hosts 64-34 in the paint since Keuka did all their damage from beyond the arc.
  • The Wolves earned 50% of their points from beyond the line, hitting 17 3-pointers in the game.
  • By the final horn, Hilbert swiped 33 offensive and 33 defensive rebounds, building a 21-baord advantage.
