MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Hilbert College women's basketball team returned to action at the Mustang Classic tonight. The Hawks were dropped by Morrisville, 63-55, in the nightcap game after SUNY Poly beat Oswego (59-54) in the opening game of the Classic.

HIGHLIGHTS
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hawks earned three offensive rebounds before Ashley Schroeder hit a bucket in the paint for the first lead 75-seconds into the game.
- Three consecutive 3-pointers followed, two by the Mustangs and one by Schroeder, in advance of McKenzie Walker's quick five points which gave Hilbert their final advantage in the quarter (10-9). Morrisville went on an 8-0 run at the end of the first period building an 18-10 lead.
- The Mustangs stretched it to a 9-point margin (22-13) three minutes into the second quarter but the Hawks rallied and made it a 2-point game by intermission (30-28). Three different Hilbert players chipped away at the score board, setting a 24-22 score with just under four minutes left in the quarter. The Mustangs drilled back-to-back 3-pointers while Schroeder padded two more buckets in before the half.
- The Hawks produced their best half of shooting from the floor, hitting 40-percent, and they dominated the glass, grabbing 22 boards while limiting the hosts to 13.
- Schroeder knotted the game for the third time at 9:43 off a jumper inside the lane. Three consecutive turnovers limited Hilbert offensively yet when Grace Zabawa drove in the lane, she lifted Hilbert (32-30) two minutes later. Morrisville camped at the arc and connected twice regaining control (36-32) and held on for a 42-37 lead at the start of the final quarter.
- Macy Kisner stroked her first 3-point make prior to Schroeder's two makes at the charity stripe. Zabawa drove the lane and made it a 2-point game at 7:27. Three empty possessions by the Hawks set a six-point margin but they continued to fight.
- Schroeder struck from downtown inching back to a 53-50 score and Mackenzie Catan and Alesia Hamm pulled the Hawks within one possession (57-54) before calling a timeout with 0:57 left.
- Morrisville scored in the lane and went 5-for-6 from the line for the 63-55 win.
GAME NOTES
- Hilbert finished the game hitting 38-percent of their field goal attempts but struggled at the line hitting only 13 of 20 free throws. The Hawks grabbed 39 rebounds and battled through ten lead changes along with 23 turnovers.
- Morrisville converted 34.9 percent from the field, doubled the Hawks from beyond the arc converting eight made 3's, and connected 11 times from the foul line. The Mustangs held a 16-4 advantage in points off turnovers.
