Brown Shines, O'Shei Homers In Doubleheader Defeat

Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The Hawks fall to the Eastern Nazerene Lions in both games of their doubleheader by scores of 6-5 and 7-2.

GAME ONE

Hilbert wasted no time getting on the board as they scratched across two runs in the first inning by way of an Angelo DiNizo RBI single and Jonathan Wilson RBI groundout.

From there, sophomore Jordan Brown took control of the game blanking the Lions hitters over the first six innings, outside of a fourth inning solo home run, to send the game into the final frame with the Hawks leading 2-1.

The Hawks bats woke back up in the seventh as Jared Welnowski, Austin O'Shei and Angelo DiNizo each recorded hits in the inning to spark a three run seventh to put the royal and white up 5-1 with three outs to go.

Starter Jordan Brown began the seventh, but after the first two hitters reached base, coach Drew Fittry turned to sophomore Anthony DiNizo out of the bullpen. From there, the Lions sticks heated up, resulting in a 6-5 walk-off win over the Hawks.

Jordan Brown took a no decision after going six plus innings, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out two. Anthony DiNizo took the loss in relief.

Senior Austin O'Shei and freshman Angelo DiNizo paced the offense recording a pair of hits each.

GAME TWO

Eastern Nazerene carried their momentum from their late game heroics in game one to get out to an early 4-0 after two innings.

Freshman starter Michael Contini was able to blank the Lions in the third to open the door for the Hawks offense to cut into the deficit. Austin O'Shei did just that as he launched his first career collegiate home run to right center to put the Hawks on the board in the bottom of the third.

The Lions answered back with a run in the fourth to go up 5-1 and it proved to be too much for the Hawks to overcome as they cruised to a 7-2 game two win.

Michael Contini took the loss on the mound after allowing four earned runs over five innings pitched and added a strikeout. Zackory Panfil added a scoreless sixth inning in relief.

Seniors Austin O'Shei and Noah Welch led the offensive attack with two hits each.

The Hawks are back at it tomorrow, as they take on Geneva College in a doubleheader beginning at 9am.
