Maia Delaney Named to AMCC All-Conference

HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College's Maia Delaney was selected to an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference All-Conference team when the league office announced the Post Season Award winners this morning.

Delaney was named to the Second Team All-Conference and became the first Hawks softball player since 2012 to be recognized by the ten league coaches.

Mount Aloysius, the 2019 AMCC Champions, and Penn State Behrend swept the major awards as the Mounties Lydia DeFazio was named the Player of the Year, Emily Cochran as recognized as the Newcomer of the Year and Jeff Bicko shared Co-Coach of the Year honors with Behrend's Ashley Gruber.  The Lions' AJ Nichols garnered the Pitcher of the Year award for the second consecutive year.

Delaney's .413 batting average ranked her 4th in the AMCC as she led the Hawks in most offensive categories.  Her 80 at bats, 19 runs scored, 33 hits, with 5 RBI topped Hilbert's stats.  She added 3 RBIs behind 5 doubles, 2 triples and 1 home run while earning 8 walks this season.  She stole six bases in six attempts as the Hawks starting center fielder in all 26 games played in 2019.

After only two seasons at Hilbert, Delaney is currently two triples away from becoming the Hawks softball program's All Time leader.  She currently sits in a second-place tie with seven career triples.

Hilbert went 8-18 in 2019 and closed the AMCC season with a 3-13 record.
