Second Half Surge Lifts Mounties Over Hawks

Cresson, Pa. –  Women's soccer came out strong today, blanking the Mounties in the first half of play to take a scoreless tie into the intermission. Mt. Aloysius (6-2-3, 2-1-1) was held in check early, but a late second half surge downed Hilbert (0-6, 0-2) by a final of 3-0.

The Hawks played outstanding defensively all game long, keeping the game tight despite facing numerous Mt. Aloysius scoring chances in their end. The Mounties got out to a 17-0 shot advantage in the first half, but the Hawks managed to keep the score tied at zero heading into the break.

The continued pressure proved to be too much for the Hawks to handle come second half when the Mounties continued to widen the shot margin, which led to 3 second half goals to lift the Mounties over the Hawks.

Brianna Stegmeier had a strong performance stopping 12 shots in 90 minutes of play in goal. Macy Kisner had the lone shot on goal for the Hawks.

The women's soccer team is back in action on Wednesday, October 9th as they head to crosstown rival D'Youville College for an AMCC contest beginning at 7:15pm.
