Women's Lacrosse to Host #BillyStrong Game April 15

HAMBURG, N.Y. – This Sunday, April 15th, the Hilbert College and Lancaster Bible College women's lacrosse programs are competing in a North Eastern Athletic Conference contest which affects league ranking as the NEAC post-season tournament inches closer.

But it is the work that both programs are doing off the field that matters most.

This weekend's game is being dubbed #BillyStrong and both NEAC schools are playing for Billy Peters.

Billy graduated from Lancaster High School, and, while pursuing his four-year degree at Niagara University, he was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2016.  Billy graduated in 2017 in the midst of fighting the disease and he continues to be positive, active and optimistic throughout his battle.  He serves as an inspiration to those who know him and has been the man of the house and role model to his younger siblings.

The women's lacrosse programs have joined forces to help raise awareness on their respective campuses and financial contributions, which will be donated to a local charity in Billy's name.

"We are very excited and honored to be able to play this game for Billy and we would also like to thank Cheri Horst and the Lancaster Bible women's lacrosse team for being a part of this with us," said Hilbert's head coach, Emily Pasternak.

The Hawks are also selling t-shirts for $10 each throughout the week leading up to the game as well as on game day.  Pregame order can be placed by contacting any Hilbert player or e-mailing the head coach at epasternak@hilbert.edu.
