Mighty Macs Too Much In Early Game, Hilbert Up To Second Game Challenge

FORT.  PIERCE, Fl. – Immaculata University sprinted to a double header sweep of the Hawks in baseball this afternoon.  Hilbert fell in the opening game (17-3) and battled to a 5-5 score in the top of the 7th before the Mighty Macs hit a walk-off RBI for the win.

Hilbert (2-8) returns to action tomorrow for their final double header of the week.  The Hawks square off against Delaware Valley beginning at 10am.

Immacualta 17 – Hilbert 3

Hilbert jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the 1st inning, but couldn't contain the power of Immaculata at the plate or on the bags.

Ian Moran and Tristan Aldinger each singled and stole a base before the Hawks found themselves with two outs.  Ryan Perrin's hit-by-pitch walk to first loaded the bases so that Eric Flores' double would score a pair and place Perrin on 3rd base.  Perrin sprinted home off a passed ball and that completed Hilbert's scoring for the day.

Immaculata scored at least three runs in the next four innings building a 17-3 victory after the fifth inning.  The Mighty Macs finished the game with a pair of doubles, but sprinted around the bags picking up 12 stolen bases.

Connor Duck was the fourth Hawk to post a hit in the game and Evan Kaul (0-2) took the loss on the mound after two innings of work.

Immaculata 6  – Hilbert 5

The Hawks got on the board first only to have Immaculata notched two runs in the bottom of the 1st and 3rd innings.  Hilbert responded with three scores in the 5th and one in the top of the 7th (after the Mighty Macs added another tally in the sixth) to force a 5-5 score.

Immaculata's reached to the left center for a triple and the following single RBI won the game.

Duck went 2-for-3, scoring one run and Ryan Samuels knocked in two RBIs.

Flores earned the first inning RBI and help start the scoring run in the third with the team's only double. Back-to-back hit-by-pitch at bats scored the Hawks second run and Samuels' single to right center knocked in two more scores.

Mathew Sokolski and Treyton delaCuesta each singled in the 7th putting two ducks on the pond.  Jared Welnowski moved the runners and a wild pitch scored Sokolski for the game-tying run.

Daniel Munn struck out three, walked five and gave up five earned runs through six innings.  Michael Goodberry took the loss in the 7th.
