Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Hilbert College faced a tough and experienced Virginia Wesleyan College women's lacrosse team tonight and the Hawks were outmatched in the 19-0 loss in Virginia.
The Marlins (3-1) built a 4-0 lead by 21:41 in the first half. On four separate occasions in the first half, Virginia Wesleyan posted two goals less than 60 seconds apart. They headed to intermission after 30-minutes of action with a 13-0 lead. The Marlins extended that lead with six second-half hits for the final 19 goal advantage.
Chantelle Mikolajczak was the only Hawk credited with a shot / shot on goal; Hilbert was outshot 37-1.
Meghan Stewart finished the 60 minute game with eight saves on the 27 shots she faced.
The Marlins doubled the Hawks ground ball totals (35-18) and caused 10 of Hilbert's 21 turnovers. Hilbert won only four of the 21 draw controls with
Chantelle Mikolajczak leading the Hawks with 2.
Amanda Weiner picked up a team-high four ground balls and won one draw control.
Hilbert (0-2) will spend a few more days down in Virginia to train and prepare for their 2015 northern schedule in New York. Hawks will travel to the University of Rochester for their 12 pm Saturday, March 14th make-up game at Fauver Stadium.
