Delaware Valley Grabs Two From Baseball

FT. PIERCE, FL – Sal Carroccia pitched his second complete game in Florida, but fell 2-0 in his first loss on the mound in the opening game of the Hawks double header against Delaware Valley College.  Hilbert's late-game push came up short as the Hawks dropped their afternoon game 5-3.

Delaware Valley picked a run in the top of the second inning and added the insurance run in the seventh then blanked the Hawks to take the win.  Hilbert connected for five hits with Kevin Moore leading the charge going 2 for 3.  Mark Anderson went 1 for 1 while Joshua Maier and Ryan Bonafede both went 1 for 3.

Carroccia struck out six batters with three walks and four hits in the seven inning game.

The afternoon game produced more base-running, but the same result.  Hilbert gave up four runs in the first three innings before the Hawks knocked in three runs in the fifth and sixth.

Michael Best and Dalton Reynolds picked up doubles but Michael Marcinkowski and Noah Rasnik earned the Hawks RBIs.  Reynolds also grabbed Hilbert's only stolen base in the afternoon game.

Winfred Nelson opened the game and was credited with the loss after facing eight batters in the first inning. Tyler Wangler carried the Hawks for 4.2 innings while Joshua closed out the game's last out.  Nelson earned the Hawks solo strike out.
