Box Score 2 HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert College softball team struggled this afternoon against AMCC opponent, D'Youville College. The Spartans had an energized offensive presence that the Hawks could not keep up with.
Natalie Whitman led the Hawks with three hits on the day but only four other Hawks were able to connect.
The Hawks grabbed two quick outs and it looked like the first inning of game one would be over quick. However, with an 0-2 count D'Youville's Mackenzie Kehlenbeck connected for a homerun that sparked a seven-run inning.

Rachel Collier were able to bring
Kateland Ball and
Brittany Hancy across the plate to make it a 7-2 game. Unfortuantly, the Hawks were not able to score again.
D'Youville continued to tack on runs and their 12-2 lead after five innings ended the game. Kallie McHenry of D'Youville had ten strikeouts and only two walks. In the loss, Hilbert's
Victoria Dzaak had three strikeouts. Four Spartans recorded doubles in game one of the double header.
D'Youville started out the second game just like they did the first - scoring four runs in the first inning and three in the second and third. D'Youville's 10-0 offensive run was fuel by three Spartans posting home runs. The Hawks were only able to make four hits and they did not score a run in the 12-0 loss. In her 3.2 innings, Whitman recorded four strikeouts compared to Hannah Turek's three. Neither team recorded an error in the second game.
The Hawks celebrate their final home game and Senior Day on Saturday, April 26 with a doubleheader against Franciscan University starting at 1pm.
