CRESSON, Pa – The Hilbert College softball team surrendered an AMCC doubleheader loss to Mount Aloysius College April 19.  The Mounties won a close 3-1 opening game and then hit a walk-off double to take the nightcap 11-3.

Mount Aloysius tallied two runs in the second inning and tacked one more on in the bottom of the fourth before the Hawks found the home plate in their last ups in the opening game.  Natalie Whitman started the inning with a double and made it home after Victoria Dzaak singled.  The Mounties attempted to throw out Whitman at home but they were slow at home and picked off Dzaak at second for the final out.

Whitman and Dzaak were the only Hawks to earn a hit.  Dzaak tossed a full game with 10 hits giving up three runs, six walks and four strike outs.

After a brief break, Whitman started the show with her second double of the day but this time sending Kateland Ball home for the Hawks first lead of the day.  With bases loaded, Brittany Hancy's base on balls scored Eliza Stringham.   Hilbert found their way on the scoreboard one last time when Whitman made it home after a wild pitch sent everyone on base taking the next bag ahead of them.

The Hawks held the lead through the middle of the fourth inning before the Mounties posted four runs in the bottom half.  The hosts added four more tallies their next ups and finished the game with a walk-off double for the 11-3 victory in the bottom of 6th inning.

Kateland Ball went 2 for 2 and scored a run along with Stringham and Whitman.

The Hawks finished with six hits, with two walks and two strikeouts.  Mount Aloysius posted 15 hits.  Jaelyn Gotham tossed a complete 5.2 game with two walks and three strikeouts.

Hilbert (2-19; 1-13) returns to AMCC action this week with a home double header against D'Youville College April 23 before they host Wells College in a non-conference game the next day.  The Hawks will celebrate their senior day game April 26th when they host Franciscan University.
