Box Score 2 BRADFORD, Pa. – Junior
Rachel Collier dinged a ball over the fence in the bottom of the fourth inning but that wasn't enough offense for Hilbert today as the Hawks suffered identical 14-2 AMCC losses to Pit-Bradford. The Panthers (18-8, 12-2) posted runs in eight of the ten innings played today as both games ended after the bottom of the 5th since Hilbert was considered the HOME team.

Natalie Whitman and Collier earned the only hits for Hilbert as the Panthers Mosby went all five innings while facing 18 batters. Bradford built a 12 -0 lead by the bottom of the third inning. Hilbert stymied Bradford in the top of the 6th before Collier's 2 RBI home run pushed Whitman home for Hilbert's only score.
Victoria Dzaak went five innings giving up 13 hits while facing 30 batters who earned two walks with two strikeouts.
Things started differently in the 5pm game, but the final results was the same. Bradford tacked on single runs in the first and second inning before they went scoreless in the third. The Panthers reached home seven times in the top half and Hilbert scored twice in the bottom half. Stringham doubled to centerfield just prior to Whitman's single up the middle. They set the table for Collier again who RBI single gave Stringham time to cross home.
Victoria Dzaak reached first via a fielding error and Whitman made it home for the Hawks second run. Bradford connected for five more runs to push the game to a fifth inning early exit for the Hawks.
Collier went 1 for 2 with the RBI hit. Providing some punch offensively was Whitman who also went 1 for 2 as did
Crystal Hailey. Stingham finished with one more at bat and ended with a 1 for 3 count.
Jaelyn Gotham carried Hilbert through an early competitive game before the Panthers ripped off 12 late runs. The sophomore pitcher gave up 14 hits with two strikeouts and two walks against 32 batters.
The Hawks travel this weekend to Mount Aloysius College before they return to Hamburg for three-straight home games to close out their season. Hilbert will battle D'Youville April 23 and Wells the next day. The Hawks will honor their seniors on Saturday, April 26th and finish the 2014 season at Houghton College April 29.
