Schneider and Smith Score in Hawks Loss

Box Score

BEREA, OH – The Hilbert College women's lacrosse team tried to tame the high-scoring, up-tempo Baldwin Wallace team  but the Hawks had their hands full and fell 19-4 March 28.  The 7-2 Yellow Jackets rushed to a 15-0 half time lead and then played even the second period under the lights in Ohio.

Freshmen Nikki Schneider and Megan Smith alternated the Hawks scoring late in the game to put the four points on the board.

Stephanie Glaza opened the game between the pipes for Hilbert and was credited with seven first-half saves.  Meghan Smith took over about ten minutes in and went almost 20 minutes making one save while giving up one goal.

Baldwin Wallace created constant chaos in front of the net as the Yellow Jackets were always flashing and diving to the frame on offense.  They executed their patterns and had success with 22 of their 27 first-half shots credited as shots on goal.

In the middle of the second period, Schneider broke the seal at 16:26 and  Megan Smith found the back of the net six minutes later.  Schneider scored her sixth of the season taking a Chantelle Mikolajczak pass to frame at 4:06.  Smith found her 11th goal of the season at 3-minutes, on the dot.  And with only thirty-nine seconds left in the game, BW pushed one more point on their total.

Victoria Budzyn's four goals led eight different Yellow Jackets in the scoring column.  BW two net-minders finished the game surrendering four scores but making zero saves.

The Hawks (1-5) return to action Sunday, March 30 when they face the University of Rochester (4-1) at Orchard Park High School at 2pm.
