Hamister Leads Hawk to 2-1 Victory

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Hilbert College men's soccer team traveled to Altoona for another AMCC matchup and they brought home the 2-1 win. Matt Hamister was credited with the game-winning goal in the seventy-third minute of play.

Altoona's Trent Landis used a direct kick that he placed in the top right corner to put the Lions up 1-0. The Hawks went into the half trailing by only one goal despite being outshot 14-3 in the first 45 minutes.

In the 66th minute of play, Matthew Barth used a ball from Garrett Rehner to dribble past Altoona's keeper for the equalizing goal. The Hawks struck again seven minutes later, as Tyler Eister lofted the ball for Matt Hamister to head in for the winning goal. Hamister's goal gave him his 30th point of the season (13 goals, 4 assists).

Jonathon Davison recorded his second win as keeper for the Hawks, as he came up with eight saves. Altoona's Colin Hill made three saves in the loss.

Overall, Hilbert was outshot 24 to seven but Altoona was only able to put nine of those shots on goal.

Hilbert (4-11-1, 2-6) finishes the regular season this Tuesday, October 28th against Pitt-Bradford in Bradford, Pa.
