Chelsea Reischuck Avoids the Lion Blockers In the AMCC Semi-final Match
Box Score

ERIE, PAChelsea Reischuck, Amanda Binder and Shannon Memminger gave Hilbert College their offensive punch in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference semi-final match at Penn State Behrend November 9. The problem was those three were the only Hawks to finish the match hitting in the positive. The host Lions earned a 3-0 victory (25-21, 25-19, 25-13) and the right to play in their second straight championship match tomorrow.

Hilbert finished their record-breaking season with a 14-20 overall record while Penn State Behrend (21-8) advances to face sixth-seeded Pitt-Bradford tomorrow for the title at 1pm. The Panthers upset second-seeded Franciscan in a thrilling 3-2 victory.

Behrend collected 42 kills/16 errors (.239) and 5 team blocks. Hilbert ended their season with 24 kills and 20 errors (.040) and only 1 team block.

Reischuck led with team-high eight kills, two service aces and matched Kayla Lewis and Olivia Tom's eight digs. Shannon Memminger finished her career with 18 assists and a team-high nine digs. Binder added four kills (1 error) in eleven attempts and paired with Jordan Botsford on the Hawks only assisted block in the match. Botsford and Allegra Johnson chipped in five and four kills, respectively.

Behrend opened the first match building a 7-2 lead and extended it to a 20-12 advantage. Hilbert rattled off six straight points with Binder in the service box for a 20-18 set score. Behrend found their grove and took a 24-18 score but didn't put it away until the Hawks had 21 points.

Hilbert held their only led in the second match, 9-8, after two Hawk kills (Memminger and Johnson) sandwiched a Lion attack error. Behrend controlled the net and slowly pulled away from Hilbert a few points at a time en route to the 25-19 win.

In what looked like a Hawk turn-around, the visitors jumped out early in the third set. Hilbert took the lead six times breaking six ties and transitioned through one lead-change. But Behrend broke away after three straight kills and one service ace for an 11-8 score. Hilbert pulled close (12-10) but were helpless as Behrend finished the match with six kills, two service aces and benefited from five Hilbert attack errors.
