Box Score

HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert College men's soccer team withstood a Pitt-Greensburg late rally to win their first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference game October 5. The Hawks (3-6, 1-2) used balanced scoring and constant offensive pressure to take a 3-2 victory over the Bobcats (3-7, 2-1).

Blake Barker finished the nice pass set up by Daniel Pulaski in the 28th minute to give Hilbert their first lead of the game. The Hawks held a 15-9 advantage in shots during the first period, taking a 1-0 advantage to the break.

The Bobcats turned up their efforts and applied more pressure after half time balancing the Hawks' efforts with 9 shots. Both AMCC teams scored twice and each team converted a head-ball score.

Greensburg tied the game at 48:13 which caused Hilbert to intensify their effort. Tomas Bojkovski netted his first collegiate goal after he knocked in a rebounded save by Greensburg's Brandon Galley at 55:31. Fourteen minutes later, in what looked like an effortless maneuver, an unmarked Matt Hamister headed a perfectly delivered pass by Bojkovski off a corner kick to give Hilbert a 3-1 lead.

With less than four minutes left in the game, Greensburg's Jake Lauderbaugh repeated the last Hilbert score by heading a cross to the net past Hilbert's Jeremy Kraska. Time ran out for Greensburg with any thoughts of a come-back.

Hilbert outshot the Bobcats (24-15) and held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks. Kraska was credited with three saves while Galley made seven saves in the 90-minute contest.

Hilbert hosts Alfred State Tuesday, October 8th (1pm). The original game date was September 21, but the non-conference game had to be rescheduled due to excess rain and poor field conditions.
